Gin Fizz Cocktail Recipe
Gin, fresh lemon, a dash of sugar and a splash of soda. The Gin Fizz has been on bar menus since the 1870s and it is still the best thing to do with a bottle of gin on a warm afternoon. Sharp, light and done in two minutes.
Serves 2
Ingredients
- Gin - 90ml (3 Squeezes)
- Fresh lemon juice - 60ml (2 Squeezes)
- Sugar syrup - a dash
- Soda water - a splash, to top
Method
- Shake the gin, lemon juice and a dash of sugar syrup with ice.
- Pour into tall glasses with no ice and top with a splash of soda water.
- Garnish with a lemon slice.
Squeeze Tip
Skip the ice in the glass. That is the whole difference between a Fizz and a Collins: a Fizz is shaken hard and cold, then served straight up in a tall glass with soda. Ice in the glass waters it down and kills the fizz. Keep the soda in the fridge so it hits the glass properly cold, and squeeze the lemon fresh, never the bottled stuff.
